Memorial to the Bali Bombings, St James

Where: Clive Steps, SW1.

What: Memorial to 202 victims of terrorist bombing at Kuta, Bali in 2002. A wall bearing the names of the victims curves round a spherical sculpture which is inscribed with 202 doves. These are all unique and resemble Picasso’s ‘peace dove’. At the base of the sculpture is further lettering.

Text: In two parts:

1_On the wall: “In memory of the 202 innocent people killed by an act of terrorism in Kuta on the island of Bali, Indonesia, on 12th October 2002” (followed by: “The British citizens lost are here lovingly remembered” and their names)

2_On the base of the sculpture: “You were robbed of life. Your spirit enriches ours”

Material: Portland stone
